Who I was named after

Birth name: Gloria Jean Schoonover

Born: April 14, 1926 in Buffalo, NY

Occupation: Actress

Biography: She only went by the name Gloria Jean. Born in Buffalo, NY, Gloria Jean was raised in Scranton, Pa., where her dad ran a music store. Jean's stagestruck mom put her daughter on the stage at the age of three as a singer; by the time she was five, Jean was headlining her own local radio program.

Moving to NY with her family, Jean was trained for an operatic career. In 1939, Universal Studio, searching for a possible singing star. They cast Jean in The Under-Pup, a comedy-drama set in an interlochen-style musical camp. The film was a hit, and Jean was signed to a Universal contract.

Talking Squirrel

Last winter I went to my local quilt shop called: The Quilt Coop and when I got out of my car I heard this chatter. I looked up in the tree where the noise was coming from and there was this little squirrel just telling me off but good. I guess he didn't think I belonged there. He would not leave until I went inside the shop. He was soooo cute.
